Richard “Fish” L. Fisher, 70

Richard “Fish” L. Fisher, age 70, of Nelsonville, Wis., passed away peacefully under hospice care on Friday, June 30, 2023, at Bethany Home in Waupaca.

He was born November 23, 1952, in Stevens Point, the son of Thomas and Loretta (née Simcakoski) Fisher. Fish attended P.J. Jacobs High School and started working at Joerns in Stevens Point after high school. He worked at Joerns for 43 years and then tended the bar for a couple of years at his second home, Bootleggers in Amherst Jct., until his retirement.

On April 2, 1977, Fish married Barbara Feltz and raised two daughters together. They later divorced. On May 10, 1986, he married Denise Dombrowski in Rosholt and raised a daughter and a son together. They shared 34 years of marriage before her passing on January 26, 2021.

Fish enjoyed the good things in life. Growing up, he considered himself one of the “West Side Boys” living in Stevens Point. Fish played every sport, including boxing, baseball, softball, competing in dart leagues at Joe’s Bar, and in his later years, he enjoyed throwing horseshoes in league with his son, Cody. He liked to have a good time and that included him being a jokester to his friends and family. Fish was an animal lover and through the years raised many springer spaniels and other breed dogs. He was always there for his family and friends, and Fish will be deeply missed by all of those who cared for him.

Fish is survived by his four children Penny (Todd) Borski of Stevens Point, Heidi (Bob) McConnell of Fall River, Samantha (Clay) Ruechel of Amherst, and Cody (fianceé Stacey Zarecki) Fisher of Amherst; nine grandchildren Kalaiya Borski, Emily Borski, Jackson Ruechel, Eastin Bennett, Ernest Ruechel, Mataya Bennett, Adrieanna Fisher, Dorothea Fisher, and Clara Ruechel; two sisters Darlene Schroda of Amherst and Kathleen Kraklow of Stevens Point; his loving canine companion Mosey; and by many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Thomas and Loretta Fisher; his parents-in-law Ernest and Dorothy Dombrowski; his wife Denise Fisher; and a grandson Casimir Ruechel.
