Presentation to explain options for hospice and palliative care

The options available for families needing palliative and hospice care will be the topic of a special presentation at the Portage Co. Business Council on March 9.

Kristy Davis, director of professional services for ProMedica Heartland Hospice, will explain the difference be hospice and palliative care, address hospice myths, and answer questions, during the March Business X-Change.

The monthly program is free for members and non-members of the Portage Co. Business Council, although non-members will need to call ahead to receive a guest pass.

Davis is has been a registered nurse for the past 25 years, having graduated from North Central Technical College and Rasmussen College in Wausau. Her expertise includes clinical and regulatory compliance, quality and fiscal management, education, and ongoing performance improvement as related to hospice and palliative care services. Davis has worked in pediatrics, trauma, intensive care, and long-term care.

Davis said she is “passionate about end-of-life care, and believes that “each individual deserves a respectful and dignified death.”

The Portage Co. Business Council hosts the monthly Business X-Change as a courtesy for local businesses to provide additional information about their services.

The meeting will be held 7:30-8:30 a.m. in the board room of the Portage County Business Council office, 5501 Vern Holmes Dr. in Stevens Point. Coffee and danish will be provided.
