Mayor Mike Wiza posted to his Facebook page a letter from actor Henry Winkler—‘The Fonz’ from Happy Days—who made a guest appearance at the Iola Car Show July 12-14.

Wiza met Winkler at the show on July 13 and presented him with a key to the city.

Iola is approximately 23 miles away from Stevens Point.

The key, according to Comptroller/Treasurer Corey Ladick, cost $98.40 and was paid for via the mayor’s Community/PR budget.

In 2015 and 2016, $1,500 was allocated for the mayor’s Community/PR budget. That dollar figure dipped to $1,000 in 2017, then was increased to $2,500 in 2018.

Allocations in the city budget must be approved by the city council every year.
