UPDATE: Stockton man killed by train identified

A 20-year-old man has died from injuries sustained after being struck by a CN train on Sunday morning.

The Portage Co. Sheriff’s Office is reporting that the male pedestrian, identified Monday as 20-year-old Nathaniel Schude, of Stockton, was struck at about 4:40 a.m. while he was on the train tracks just south of Custer Dr. in the Town of Stockton.

Schude had to be extricated from the train and was taken by Spirit Air Ambulance to Aspirus Hospital in Wausau, where he later died.

The incident remains under investigation by the Portage Co. Sheriff’s Office.

Stevens Point Fire Department, Stockton Fire and EMS, and Portage Co. Ambulance also responded to the scene.
