Pedestrian suffering ‘significant injuries’ after struck by vehicle

By Brandi Makuski

One man has been hospitalized after being struck by a motorist on the 3300 block of Jefferson St. late Tuesday night.

Officers responded to the intersection of Texas Ave. and Jefferson St. after a caller reported a car versus pedestrian crash at about 10:54 p.m.

The victim, identified only as a 39-year-old man, was walking north on Texas Ave. when he was struck, Zenner said. He was transported by ambulance to a local hospital with “significant injuries.”

The driver, a 63-year-old woman, told police she didn’t see anything until the very last moment, Zenner said. She was not injured.

Circumstances behind the crash remain under investigation, Zenner said, but neither speed nor alcohol is believed to be contributing factors.
