Optimists honor local student

As part the group’s Youth Appreciation Program, the Stevens Point Noon Optimist Club is honoring a sixth grader from Plover-Whiting Elementary School.

Keegan Guinn is the November Youth of the Month. His guardians are Tori and Jesse Schultz of Stevens Point.

Guinn was nominated by his teacher because of his “positive attitude and for his hard work”, according to a news release from the Optimist Club. “He always has a smile on his face, never complains and has an optimistic attitude.”

“Keegan is an all-around fantastic young man and is one of the kindest students I’ve had the pleasure to know,” said Rebecca Radke, Quinn’s teacher. “School does not come easy [sic] to Keegan but he is a hardworking, optimistic, and a caring student who puts his best effort into all that he does.”

Quinn is involved with the Children’s Theater and has been in many local productions.

“Keegan always aims to please and at home, we joke that he is ‘winning at life’ because of his always good intentions and glad-hearted optimism,” the Schultz Family said in the release.

Youth Appreciation is the most popular program sponsored by clubs throughout Optimist International, with more than 2,000 clubs participating each year.
