Portage Co. deputies say no one was injured following a fire in Linwood on March 27.

Dispatchers at the Portage Co. Communications Center received a 911 call at 11:30 a.m. on Monday with the report that a detached garage at 1235 Rocky Run Rd. had caught fire.

The fire reportedly started with a riding lawnmower and briefly spread to a tool bench.

Deputy Travis Levandowski was among the first on the scene and knocked down most of the fire with an extinguisher he had in the trunk of his squad car.

The Rudolph Fire Department arrived moments later. Crews pulled the lawnmower out to the garage and soaked it with a hose.

Levandowski confirmed there were no injuries, and that there was no major damage to the garage.

The Portage Co. Ambulance Service also responded. Crews were on the scene for less than an hour.
