The Mid-State Technical College Foundation, Inc., is hosting its sixth-annual Trapshoot Fundraiser in August.

Highlights include prizes for the highest-scoring teams, 25 practice rounds, 50 scoring rounds, raffles, optional Lewis class contests, and lunch.

The Friday, Aug. 20, event, will be held at the Wisconsin Trapshooting Association in Nekoosa.

The fundraiser is a major source of funding for the Mid-State’s emergency loan and grant programs that help the college’s students stay enrolled despite financial hurdles. According to Jill Steckbauer, director of Mid-State’s Foundation & Alumni, funds raised at the Trapshoot Fundraiser last year made a significant impact on students struggling to stay enrolled and engaged with all the challenges of COVID facing them.

“Trapshooting is a great outdoor activity, designed to bring people together in a fun, safe environment while helping students with financial challenges that threaten to take away their dream of an education,” Steckbauer said. “We are excited at how this has helped students while delivering an unforgettable day of trapshooting.”

The event is open to adults and children, though kids under 17 must be accompanied by an adult. All participants will be required to sign a waiver of participation at the event, and shooters are asked to bring their own shotgun and shooting vest. Hearing protection and ammunition will be provided.
