Mary Ann studied social sciences at Midstate Technical College and the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point. She made a positive difference in the lives of many seniors for over 25 years at the Portage County Commission of Aging Outreach and Social Services. She was loved by many with a long list of friends new and old. She was fun-loving and ready for adventure. Mary Ann was always well dressed, elegant and outgoing.
Mary Ann and Christian met at a dance hall while he was on assignment from New York City teaching fly tying in Stevens Point. The young couple married on Long Island in New York City in a whirlwind love affair and years later settled in Wisconsin. Mary Ann and Christian had a passion for fishing, catching all kinds of fish on Wisconsin’s many lakes and rivers. Their Lake Emily home in Amherst brought friends and family for many a picnic, pontoon ride, and fishing excursion. They love to golf and Mary Ann won golf trophies in the ladies division. They loved music, dancing to waltz’s and polkas, traveling, fishing for crabs in the ocean, made arts and crafts, and spending hours tending to their many flowers, roses and tomatoes. They were avid bird-watchers. The smell of cookies and freshly baked pies welcomed you into their home along with fresh cut roses on the table from Christian to Mary Ann. Mary Ann loved hosting festive holidays for her whole family. Her holiday buffets were endless and her pies and cookies were famous. Mary Ann embraced her Polish heritage including making her homemade paczkis and dumplings.
Our darling mother will be forever in our hearts.
