Isadore St. reconstruction to begin Monday

City officials say reconstruction of Isadore St. is scheduled to begin on Monday, July 9.

Crews will close the road to traffic and begin removing pavement to replace outdated, underground utilities, at the Portage St. intersection, working north toward Fourth Ave. Construction will continue north towards Maria Dr.

Public Works Director Scott Beduhn said the $1 million project, which was approved by the city council in 2017, includes some painted bicycle stencils on the new asphalt roadway—known as “sharrows”—to remind motorists that bicyclists can also use the road, but “not to the extent we did on Prentice St.”

“We’ve actually got some underground utilities that are on university property, and we’ll be relocating those into the [public] right-of-way,” Beduhn said.

The project should be complete by late October, weather permitting.
