Gymnasts from Russell qualify for state, regional meets

Several athletes from Russell Gymnastics have qualified for state competition.

The east side facility sent 19 gymnasts to compete in the levels 6-10 championship meets in Germantown, while four gymnasts to the Wisconsin Excel State Meet in Green Bay. Competitions were held in March.

Three Russell gymnasts, Madelyn Manternach, Ella Backer, and Megan McGinley secured first place finishes. Manternach (Level 10) finished first in floor with a score of 9.475, Backer (Level 6) finished first in vault with a score of 9.250, and McGinley (Level 8) finished first in bars with a score of 9.150.

Giana Bolton (Level 8), Manternach, and Josie Dietrich (Level 9) all qualified for regional competition in Bettendorf, Iowa, where they will compete against gymnasts from several states.

State qualifiers are Alaena Rice, Caley Ulrich, Arianna Ostrum, Tessah Lang, Giana Bolton, Ashlyn Vlcko, Megan McGinley, Josie Dietrich, Caleigh Lussenden, Madelyn Manternach, Olivia Manternach, Chloe Gresl, Carlee Kerchefski, Ella Bancker, Lauren Lemke, Natalee Barstow, Addison Brock, Olivia Hendrix, Jennalyn Riley, Lily Cahill, Maggie Behnke, Morgan Fillmore, and Tatum Thielman.
