Grocery delivery services now available at Copps

Some 18 months following its acquisition by Kroger Co., a change is coming to two local Copps grocery stores.

Copps Market in Stevens Point, 1500 Pinecrest Dr., as well as the Plover location at 1850 Plover Rd., have added at-home grocery delivery services, according to a news release from the country’s largest grocery store chain.

“We just started it up last week,” said Jeron Scheider, a manager at Copps Market in Stevens Point.

The new service is called Instacart. Operated by a third-party vendor, the service offers at-home delivery of grocery items in as little as one hour.

Goods must be ordered and paid for via credit card at www.picknsave.com, Scheider said, and coupons can also be applied online. The first delivery is free, while subsequent deliveries will be assessed a $10.95 delivery charge.

Once the order is placed, Scheider said, the driver will contact shoppers via telephone or text before leaving “to see if you need anything else before they leave the store.”

The stores are also being rebranded sometime next year, Scheider said.

The change is part of a “Restock Kroger” campaign, a series of changes taking place at the more than 150 Pick ‘n Save, Copps and Metro Market locations the company purchased in Nov. of 2015 for a reported $800 million.

“Combined with our successful curbside program, we are providing an enhanced digital shopping experience to our customers,” said James Hyland, vice president of communications and public affairs for Roundy’s Supermarkets Inc.

The concept was successfully tested in Milwaukee and Madison markets earlier this year. Other markets affected by the new service include Kenosha, Fond du Lac, Oshkosh, Appleton, Du Pere, Wisconsin Rapids, and Wausau.
