Glass artist to exhibit typography work at UW-Stevens Point

Text takes on physical forms at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point Edna Carlsten Gallery through a new exhibit, “Kinesthetic Typography.”

Helen Lee, an assistant professor and head of glass-working at UW-Madison, is displaying her work through Monday, March 19, with a closing reception and artist talk on the final day at 4 PM. Both the exhibit and event are open to the public, free of charge.

Lee is a glassblower, designer and educator who has won several awards, including the inaugural Irwin Borowsky Prize in Glass Art, Edna Wiechers Arts in Wisconsin Award and Gold Award in the Bullseye Emerge 2016 exhibition. Her works are featured in the Minnesota Museum of American Art, Corning Museum of Glass, Chrysler Museum Glass Studio and Toyama City Institute of Glass Art. She holds degrees from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Rhode Island School of Design.

The gallery is open to the public Monday through Friday from 10 AM to 4 PM, on Thursdays from 7-9 PM and on weekends from 1-4 PM. For more information, call (715) 346-4797.
