Gladys Mary Bloom-Mulcahy, 91

Gladys Mary Bloom-Mulcahy, age 91 of Plover, passed away at her daughter’s home surrounded by family on July 19, 2022.

Gladys was born on February 12, 1931, in Chippewa Falls. She was the daughter of the late William and Emma (Benjamin) Wiggert. At the age of three, she was placed in St. Michael’s Orphanage in Lacrosse.

She graduated from Mineral Point High School in 1949. Her marriage to Leo Mulcahy took place on December 26, 1951, at Saints Mary and Paul Catholic Church in Mineral Point. Her husband preceded her in death on September 17, 1977.

Gladys was a humble, devoted wife and mother and gifted seamstress who made many of her daughters’ dresses. She was a Den mother when the boys were in Scouts and she could stretch a dollar further than anyone we know.

Gladys spent many hours gardening, loved her flowers, and taught us the joy of simple things.

Survivors include her children, Barbara (Martin) Kubisiak of Waupaca, Rita (Fred) Wachs of Lexington, Ken., Patrick (Lisa) Mulcahy of Cedarburg Wis., Kathleen Mulcahy of Columbia, MO., and Paul (Kung) Mulcahy of Thailand.

She is also survived by 20 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Leo, her sister, Helen Wyler, and her sons-in-law, John Ziebell and John William Sutherland.

A Mass of Christian burial for Gladys will be held on Monday, July 25, 2022, at 11 at St. Bronislava Catholic Church 3200 Plover Road Plover. Rev. Eric Mashak will officiate. Burial will take place at Resurrection Cemetery in Madison. at a later date. Visitation on Monday from 10 a.m. until time of service at the church.
