Gladys “Glady” Laug, 65

Gladys “Glady” Laug, age 65 of Stevens Point, passed away December 15, 2021 after a month long battle with COVID.

A memorial service for Gladys will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2021 at the Shuda Funeral Chapel, Stevens Point. Friends and family will gather to share memories from 4 p.m. until the time of services at Shuda’s on Tuesday.

Gladys was born March 8, 1956 in Altenberg, Missouri, the daughter of George and Elda Hunt and youngest sister to Ruth (late John) Rauh, Paula (late David) Reisenbichler, and Norman (Mary) Hunt. She graduated from Perryville High School in 1974.

After high school Gladys embraced her free spirited soul and took on her love of traveling. Gladys found herself in Galveston Island, Texas, where she met the man she would marry, Gary Laug.

The two wed on February 4, 1984 at Emmanual Lutheran Church in Altenburg, MO. Their love for each other as well as adventure is what brought them to family in Wisconsin, where they would settle and start a family of their own.

Gladys spent her years being a devoted mother and doing what she enjoyed most, sharing her warm and compassionate heart with others. Most recently as an educational assistant with the Transportation Department of the Stevens Point School District.

Gladys always wore a smile that was contagious and undeniable. No one was a stranger to her, she was an instant friend to everyone. She was one of a kind and treasured by so many. Gladys enjoyed her life to the fullest spending it surrounded by her family and friends. Many will tell you she was the best travel partner as she was always headed somewhere warm to make memories.

Gladys is survived by her husband Gary, and their three children: Adam (Alia); Casey (Alexander); and Stephanie (Matthew). She was a strong and forgiving mother but more so a fun loving grandmother to her seven grandchildren; Qiarie, Jersey, Haiden, Mya, Bryce, Cameron, and Lyla. Gladys was welcomed at the Gates by her father: George, mother: Elda, brother: Norman, great nephews: Andrew and Parker King as well as other greatly missed family and friends.

She was a loved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend who is already so deeply missed.
