Firefighters called to Standing Rocks fire

Fire crews have been called to a grass fire near Standing Rocks Park in the Town of Stockton.

Crews from the Stockton Fire Department and Wisconsin Dept. of Natural Resources were called to the scene at 11:44 a.m. on April 21 after an aircraft caught sight of a grassland fire.

Firefighters from Amherst and Park Ridge fire departments were called at about 12:10 p.m. on Sunday to assist at the scene.

The fire was approximately four acres wide near Standing Rocks and Bear Lake roads, with at least two homes in the vicinity of the flames.

Portage Co. deputies were also called to the scene to block Standing Rocks Rd. until the fire is under control.
