Emily E. Ramczyk, 96

Emily E. Ramczyk, a resident of the Portage County Health Care Center in Stevens Point, was welcomed to eternal life on July 1, 2021 at the age of 96. She was reunited with Victor, her beloved husband of 40 years.

Emily was born in the Town of Sharon on December 30, 1924 to the late John and Mary (Yach) Platta. She attended General McGlocklin School. Victor John Ramczyk and Emily were married on Oct. 25, 1947, at Sacred
Heart Catholic Church in Polonia. They resided in the Town of Sharon, and later in the Town of Hull. She was a devoted life-long member of Sacred Heart and a member of the Rosary Society for 72 years.

Emily enjoyed socializing with family and friends, baking, canning, traveling, and church activities. When stopping by for a visit, you could expect to be greeted by the aroma of freshly baked cookies, pies, or her notorious biscuits. Emily made trips to Australia, Mexico, Israel, and many states including Hawaii, Florida, and Arizona—but nothing was more precious to her than to be with children. She babysat dozens of kids over many years and loved each of them as her own. She said she would have paid their parents for the privilege.

The favorite time of year for Emily was preparing for and attending the annual Polonia Picnic, where she proudly contributed her delicious fruit and berry pies, as well as other desserts for all to enjoy. She loved treating her family to the chicken dinner, visiting people, and dancing to the polka bands. Her smile, laugh and big heart will be dearly missed by so many.

Survivors include her children Ronnie (Delores) Ramczyk, Karen (Maury) Bateman, Larry (Barb Canne) Ramczyk, Lenny (Pat) Ramczyk, Gary (Laurie) Ramczyk), Randy (Lori) Ramczyk; grandchildren Dennis, Barbara, Nicole, Jonathan, Alyssa, Brandon, Kayla, Breana, Chelsea, and Ryan; sisters Marlene (Roger) Gross and Bernice (the late Alex) Janowski, nine great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and her “other son”, nephew Joe Schwark, who knew her as “Ma.”

Emily was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister Ann (Clarence) Ramczyk, brother John Platta, infant brothers Joseph and Leonard, and granddaughter Tricia Ramczyk. Born with angel wings were a granddaughter (Ronnie and Delores Ramczyk) and great-grandson Leo David (Alyssa and Coby Curkeet).

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, July 8 at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Polonia. The Reverand Mark Miller will officiate with burial in the Parish Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to share memories from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at the church.

A special thanks to the incredible nurses and staff members at the Portage County Health Care Center, who lovingly cared for Emily over the past three-and-a-half years.
