Stevens Point-based Ellis Construction has been honored for its work on three local projects.

Ellis received three 2019 Projects of Distinction Awards through the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) of Wisconsin during its annual conference on Feb. 13 in Wisconsin Dells.

Andrew J. Halverson, executive vice president and co-owner of Ellis, said in a press release the company was “thrilled” with the recognition, adding, “our great clients put their trust in Ellis Construction to provide them progressive solutions for their building needs.”

“All of us here at Ellis are humbled and proud to know that the skills we bring to the table to serve our clients puts us at the top of the state in the construction industry,” he said.

The Aspirus Wausau Hospital Cancer Center, The Ascension Saint Michael’s Hospital Nuclear Medicine/Heart Catherization Lab project, and The Schmeeckle Reserve Amphitheater Project all placed in the highest tiers of construction projects across the state.

The Aspirus Wausau Hospital Cancer Center project was awarded a Gold designation in the Major Healthcare Category. The project was a 21,756 square-foot-addition coupled with 9,000 square feet of renovation, allowing Aspirus to create a patient-centered, all-encompassing facility for cancer care.

A 3,000-square-foot renovation for the Ascension Saint Michael’s Hospital Nuclear Medicine/Heart Catherization Lab won a Silver award. The project allowed for major upgrades to the nuclear medicine capabilities of the hospital as well as a state-of-the-art cardiac catheterization lab to directly treat various cardiac blockages and obstructions.

The Schmeeckle Reserve Amphitheater Project also won a Silver award. The project covered over 1.5 acres of the Schmeeckle Reserve on the campus of the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, creating a venue for over 250 people to enjoy lectures, literature readings and performances in the outdoors.

Ellis Construction has been a recognized name in construction services in Central and Northern Wisconsin for over 87 years, providing construction management, general contracting, design-assist and design-build services in the manufacturing, healthcare and general commercial markets.
