County to offer free e-cycle event on Oct. 12

The Portage Co. Solid Waste Department is holding a free electronic recycling event on Oct. 12.

Portage Co. residents can bring up to 20 items per vehicle between 4 and 6:30 p.m. to the Transfer Facility at 650 Moore Rd. in Plover. There is no charge, but the event is only open to county residents and not businesses.

Acceptable items for the e-cycle include cable boxes, cables, and cords; cameras and camcorders; cell phones, PDAs, and chargers; clocks; coffee makers; copiers, printers, scanners, and fax machines; desktop computer towers and peripherals; laptop computers and peripherals, monitors (all types), docking stations; DVD/VHS/Blu-Ray players (no discs); external drives (all types); fans; hair dryers; landline phones; MP3 and iPod players; microwaves; projectors; radios; satellite dishes and receivers; servers; stereos and speakers; toasters; TVs (all types); uninterruptible power supplies; jump starters; video game consoles and controllers.

Not accepted are ballasts; batteries; bulbs/lamps; capacitors; gas cylinders; ink and toner cartridges; holiday lights; liquids; medical and radioactive wastes; medical and lab equipment; refrigerant-containing appliances; smoke detectors; vape pens; and white goods.
