County plans I-39 bridge improvements starting Monday

Motorists can expect single-lane closures on I-39 south of Plover beginning on Monday.

The Portage County Highway Department will be applying anti-skid treatments on eight bridges along I-39 starting Monday. Lane closures will occur on I-39 southbound and northbound between WIS 54 and County Road W.

The speed limit on I-39 will be reduced from 70 mph to 55 mph through the work zones.

All work is scheduled for completion before the end of the day, Friday, Aug. 9, depending on the weather.
