Committee to consider city traffic, parking changes

Metro Wire Staff

City leaders on Monday will consider changes to parking and traffic ordinances at various locations in Stevens Point.

The board of public works will consider several changes at its Feb. 13 meeting, some based on safety recommendations from Mayor Mike Wiza and city police. In order to implement changes to parking and traffic patterns, the city needs to formally amend current ordinances.

Changes include:

  • Installing stop signs for east- and westbound traffic on Bush St. at the Indiana Ave. intersection.
  • Creating permit parking for 20 stalls in municipal parking lot #2 on First St. near the Crosby Ave. intersection.
  • Adding 20 permit parking spaces in municipal lot #23, at Water St. and Arlington Pl.
  • Creating a no parking zone within 30 feet of the intersection at Minnesota Ave. and Rice St.

The board of public works meets at 6 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 13 in the Community Room of the Stevens Point Police Department, 933 Michigan Ave. The public is welcome to attend.
