City Band to kick off 2018 season at Pfiffner

The Stevens Point City Band will hold its first concert of the summer season on June 6.

The concerts are held every Wednesday beginning at 7 p.m. throughout the summer at the Pfiffner Pioneer Park Bandshell. Shows are free and open to the public. This year’s season operates through Aug. 1.

The band, under the direction of Kathryn Kawleski, has over 70 members this season.

“Timely Tunes” will be the theme as the band starts off its season with a variety of selections involving some aspect of time, including “The Syncopated Clock”, George Gershwin’s “Summertime”, “A Touch of Broadway”,  “Hollywood Milestones”, “Selections From Mary Poppins” and “Pop & Rock Legends:  Chicago”.  “Man of the Hour” by Henry Fillmore will be the music for the weekly children’s march.

Michele’s Restaurant and Catering will provide food for purchase before and during the concert.

Audience members should bring chairs or blankets for seating.

In the event of inclement weather, the concert will be held in the gymnasium at St. Paul Lutheran Church and School, 1919 Wyatt Ave.
