The Boys & Girls Club of Portage County plans to offer virtual programming for young people in the area, along with pick-up snacks and meals, over the next few weeks.

The club announced on Wednesday BGC to Go!, an online resource for families and children to utilize during their time at home. Each day, the club will be posting a series of BGC programs for children via Facebook and Instagram.

Programs include art projects, a service project, and fitness activities, according to a news release from the club.

The club will also be collecting photo and video submissions of children thanking healthcare workers for being on the frontlines of the COVID-19 emergency. Submissions should be emailed to [email protected] by Wednesday, March 25.

Starting on Monday, March 23, the club will offer a free meal service to all children through the age of 18 from 3-5:30 p.m. at the Berard Center, 941 Michigan Ave., Stevens Point, and Plover Center, 2401 Cedar Dr., Plover. Children may take a grab-n-go dinner and snack but will be asked to leave the building immediately, in accordance with Gov. Tony Evers’ ban on public gatherings of 10 people or more.

Families in need of basic food items can also stop by the Stevens Point and Plover club locations between 3-5:30 p.m. beginning March 30 to pick up a Bag of Hope. A limited supply of the grab-bags was assembled by Woodlands Church in Plover.
