Letter: Holman ‘Right Choice’ for County Executive

To the Editor-

Recently my friend and neighbor, Chris Holman, announced that he’ll be running for Portage County Executive in 2018.

If any of you know Chris, then you already know that he is probably as close to the human embodiment of Portage County as you’ll find. In his announcement, he mentioned that he’s a farmer and a U.S. Army veteran, but he left out that he’s also an educator, a father, a businessman, and a mentor.

He mentioned his work with the Wisconsin Farmer’s Union, but he left out that he’s done work advocating for family farms on both the national and international scale. Though he may not have held office at the county level, Chris certainly understands how to navigate politics to pursue the goals of the people he represents.

In my personal interactions with Chris, I’ve always found him to be intelligent, friendly, decent, extremely reasonable in his thinking, and incredibly knowledgeable on the topics he puts his mind to understanding. He has shown a sincere concern not only for the people of Stevens Point and Plover, but for all the outlying communities of Portage County as well.

There are already, and there will be more, good people running for Portage County Executive in 2018, but regardless of who all ends up in the race, I know Chris Holman is the right choice for Portage County Executive in 2018.
