UWSP club donates gift bags to Aspirus Birth Centers

It can be challenging to feed a baby with cleft lip and/or palate. The UWSP Miles of Smiles club is helping parents of these newborns by donating gift bags to area Aspirus birth centers.

UWSP Miles of Smiles strives to help those affected with craniofacial disorders through support, education, and awareness activities. Many of the club’s members are students in UWSP’s Communication Sciences and Disorders program.

Club representatives recently delivered gift bags to Aspirus Stevens Point Hospital’s birth center team to pass along to parents of babies born with these conditions. The bags contain special bottles, educational information, cards of encouragement, and handmade blankets. Club fundraising activities cover the cost of the bags’ contents.

In addition to Aspirus Stevens Point Hospital, the UWSP Miles of Smiles club provides gift bags to the birth centers at Aspirus Riverview Hospital and Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
