United Way now accepting applicants for COVID-19 relief

Metro Wire Staff

The United Way of Portage County and the Community Foundation of Central Wisconsin are now accepting online applications for the Portage County COVID-19 Relief Fund.

The two groups partnered last week to establish the fund, which will provide flexible resources to provide funding to organizations in Portage County working with those disproportionately impacted by COVID-19 and the economic consequences of this outbreak.

This funding will provide organizations with resources for individuals and families negatively impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic as described below including, but not limited to food, education interruptions, employment reductions, housing vulnerabilities, medical access, and childcare.

Multiple phases of funding are anticipated to address both the acute needs now and the longer-term impacts of the outbreak and recovery. Funding decisions will be made based on the highest areas of need determined through ongoing communications with nonprofit agencies and social sector serving agencies.

The first round of applications, those submitted by 5 p.m. on Wednesday, March 25, will be assessed and awarded on Friday, March 27.

Funds will be awarded after the March 27 date on a weekly basis. Timing is subject to change.

The application can be found online at https://www.grantinterface.com/Home/Logon?urlkey=cfcwi
