St. Pete’s expands annual picnic into two-day affair

By Brandi Makuski

The annual St. Peter’s picnic is expanding this year’s usual gathering with a two-day event filled with music, games, food, and a car show.

This year’s event is named Bags, Brews, and Bands. As the moniker suggests, there’s something for just about everyone, according to Paul Koch, one of the event organizers.

June 11 events include a cornhole tournament, sponsored by Golden Sands Cornhole LLC. The tournament will be a Badger State Qualifying competition.

The event kicks off on Saturday, June 11, with breakfast served at 8 a.m., followed by an old car show and trophies, sponsored by Kent’s Towing.

Live music will be held from noon to 10 p.m. Double Tap, Vertigo, and the Zac Matthews Band are all scheduled to perform.

Basket raffles, 50/50, a food stand, and Monte Carlo games, are also planned.

Sunday, June 12 will have more of the traditional church picnic feel, with a Polka mass kicking off the day at 10:30 a.m. Food, music, and dancing will follow through 5 p.m., with polka bands Main Squeeze and Happy Notes scheduled to perform.

A “Polish-style” chicken dinner will be available from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Admission is free and the event is open to the public. Attendees should bring their own chairs.
