Skyward team wins Plover VFW Golf Scramble

By Patrick Lynn

Skyward dominated the course on Sept. 7 to win the 15th Annual Plover Veterans of Foreign Wars Golf Scramble.

The winning team was awarded a round of golf for four with carts from Wisconsin River Golf Club and each member received a dozen golf balls. The team also won an artillery shell-styled traveling trophy in special a ceremony at the Post. Team member’s names will be engraved on the trophy at a later date.

Twenty-five teams participated in the annual fundraising scramble at the golf club, which kicked off with a shotgun start fired from a howitzer, courtesy of the Wisconsin National Guard Bravo Battery 1/120 Unit.

Following the scramble, a banquet dinner, door prizes, and basket raffles were offered at the Post, 2970 Hickory Dr.

Funds raised will be used for local area veteran needs, community support, and ongoing support of the Fisher House, a “home away from home” for military and veterans’ families when a loved one is hospitalized at Zablocki VA Medical Center in Milwaukee.
