Schulfer & Associates hits new record with Pacelli fundraiser

By Patrick Lynn

Schulfer & Associates marked its 11th year of shredding with another record.

The wealth management advisor held its annual shredding party on May 13, inviting community members to have old banks statements and other personal documents securely shredded in exchange for donations. Shredding services were provided by Express Recycling Solutions, Inc.

The company raised $5,500 was raised during the three-hour event—$500 more than last year, which sets a new record for the company. Funds go to Pacelli Catholic Schools, and LouAnn Schulfer, co-owner of Schulfer & Associates, said $35,000 has been raised for the school system over the past 11 years.

To keep with the theme of the event, “shredded” food was also sold, including shredded chicken sandwiches, shredded potato crisps, and shredded coleslaw.

“We collected, destroyed, and recycled 16,000 pounds of sensitive information this year,” Schulfer said. “Adding that to the 115,012 pounds previously collected, our 11-year cumulative total reached 131,012 pounds of documents.”

This year’s funds will be dedicated toward the Accelerated Reader Program promoting reading, literacy, and comprehension in Pacelli Elementary Schools, Schulfer added.

The shredding party allows individuals and businesses to bring sensitive recordkeeping documents to be collected, shredded, and recycled. Donations are accepted for the service and 100 percent of the profits are dedicated toward a need that Pacelli Catholic Schools identifies.

Previous year’s donations have funded an upgraded security system for the front entrance of the high school, Library World, an online program to better organize the library system for all Pacelli schools, robotics kits for students at the middle school, materials for the then newly-implemented Singapore math program, new playground equipment for the pre-school children, as well as various new technology equipment, contributions toward a student activities van and trailer, among other projects.

Schulfer said the next shredding party will be held mid-May 2022 at the Schulfer & Associate office, 1417 Main St. The company offers a free guide, “What to Shred/What to Keep,” available by calling 715.343.9600.
