Metro Wire Staff

The Central Wisconsin Area Community Theater kicks off its 50th anniversary season with the third offering of Schmeeckle Shakes.

This year, cwACT is taking audiences to a Wild West-themed version of William Shakespeare’s “Twelfth Night.”

Performances will be held at the Pankowski Friends Amphitheater, nestled within Schmeeckle Reserve, 2419 Northpoint Dr. in Stevens Point.

This year’s event will also include a Cowboy Dinner & Show, with an hour of pre-show festivities before the Friday and Saturday evening performances. A selection of hamburgers and brats, accompanied by American-style sides, and a cash bar, will be available.

A limited number of dinner/show tickets for the dinner and show combo are priced at $25.

This reimagining of “Twelfth Night” takes place in an 1850s mining town. Viola, a resourceful young woman, disguises herself as the dashing Cesario to secure employment. Viola finds herself caught in a web of mistaken identities and unexpected romantic entanglements as a trusted aide to Duke Orsino. Love takes center stage when Viola, as Cesario, delivers Orsino’s love messages to the captivating Olivia, only to become the object of her affection.

The following shows are scheduled:

● Friday, August 18, show begins at 5:30 p.m.
● Saturday, August 19, shows at 1:30 and 5:30 p.m.
● Sunday, August 20, showtime 1:30 p.m.

Tickets are $5 for general admission. A limited number of tickets for the Cowboy Dinner & Show cost $25/person and must be purchased in advance.
