Robert “Bob” Betro, 72

Robert “Bob” Betro, 72, of Stevens Point passed away Thursday November 16, 2023, at his home surrounded by his family and loved ones while under the care of St. Croix Hospice.

Bob was born October 5, 1951, in Stevens Point. He was the son of the late Neufrey and Esther (née Scheski) Betro. He attended local schools.

His marriage to Alfreda Russell took place on November 8, 1969, at St. Bronislava Catholic Church in Plover. The couple later divorced. He then married Loretta Wolfe on June 1, 1991. She survives.

Bob worked for Kimberly/Clark Nekoosa Paper Mill as a supervisor for over 30 years retiring in 2018.

In his free time, Bob enjoyed, fishing, watching football games and racing, visiting the casino, baking, cooking and loved sitting home and listening to the oldies.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial in his name will be established at a later date.

Survivors include his daughter Kelly (Gary) Liebe, and son John (Doreen) Betro, both of Stevens Point; two step-children, Michele (Corey) Paulson and Gail Zdroik; his grandchildren; Briana and Danielle Liebe, Nate Betro and Marin Zdroik; and one great-granddaughter; Leilani Betro.

Further survived by his sisters; Florence (Ken) Gross of Stevens Point, Theresa (James) Jurgella, of Dousman, and Judy (LaVern) Zywicke of Plover, and a brother, Danile Betro of Princeton. Also survived by his life long friends Art Miller and Bill Kropidlowski.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Ernest and Leonard.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Bob will be held on Wednesday November 22, 2023, at 11 a.m. at St. Bronislava Catholic Church, 3200 Plover Rd., Plover. Very Reverend Ed Shuttleworth will officiate. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Visitation on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until time of services at the church.
