Restaurant damaged in Monday collision

By Brandi Makuski

Plover emergency crews say one person received minor injuries after a Monday morning collision.

Village police and fire/EMS crews were called to McDonald’s, 2601 Plover Rd., at 9:20 a.m. on Nov. 7 when a restaurant employee called 911 to report a motorist had struck the north side of the building.

Plover medics say the motorist, an 81-year-old woman, was uninjured. Her husband was in the passenger seat and was transported by ambulance for minor injuries.

Plover firefighters/building inspectors Eric Krug and Ethan Meddaugh said there was structural damage to the northern entryway of the restaurant but not the main dining and kitchen structure. Restaurant management would need to consult an engineering firm and repair the damage, they said.

“The drive-thru can stay open but this entryway is closed until they get this addressed,” Krug said.

The building was not evacuated and no one else was injured. The northern entrance was blocked off by yellow tape.

The car was removed by Adams Towing. Krug said village building inspectors would conduct a follow-up inspection once repairs were completed.

Crews were on the scene for about 35 minutes.
