‘Red Carpet Movies’ to debut at Plover library

By Brandi Makuski

With the Golden Globes over, a series of ‘Red Carpet Movies’ has been announced at the Plover library.

The adult-gear screenings take place each Tuesday beginning Jan. 29. Four weeks of award-winning films will be shown for free at 1:30 p.m. on the library’s large screen, with popcorn and other snacks provided.

The movie events include contests and prizes, according to Library Director Laura Fuller.

On Jan. 29, the library will screen “Crazy Rich Asians”, a 2018 American romantic comedy-drama film directed by Jon M. Chu.

Feb. 5, the library will show “First Man”, the look at the life of the astronaut Neil Armstrong, played by Ryan Gosling, and the legendary space mission that led him to become the first man to walk on the moon on in 1969.

“The Wife” is a drama starring Glenn Close as a wife who questions her life choices as she travels to Stockholm with her husband, where he is slated to receive the Nobel Prize for Literature. It plays Feb. 12.

On Feb. 19, the library will screen a movie based on popular vote by viewers. The library reserves the right to change dates and titles if necessary, Fuller said, and it will notify the public as soon as possible if that occurs.

The Plover Branch Library is located at 2151 Roosevelt Dr. in Plover. For more information, visit www.pocolibrary.org or call 715-341-4007.
