Police & Sheriff calls, Jan 6-7

Jan. 6

Screamer: Police were called to the 3800 block of Robert Pl. at 5:22 a.m. when a 61-year-old man reported screaming from his neighbor’s residence. Police discovered the neighbor, a 29-year-old woman, had a nightmare and woke up screaming.

Property damage: A 45-year-old man reported someone damaged storage units on the 300 block of County Trunk A in Almond at 8:51 a.m.

Smoker: A 38-year-old woman called police to the 2600 block of Indiana Ave. to report she could smell marijuana smoke coming from a neighbor’s apartment at 10:05 a.m. Police were unable to locate the source.

Crash: A 21-year-old man was cited for inattentive driving at 11:38 a.m. following a two-vehicle collision at Main St. and Michigan Ave.

Faker: Portage Co. deputies took a report on a man, unknown age, impersonating an officer at 12:06 p.m. No further details were released.

Mean: Police were called to the 3100 block of Minnesota Ave. at 1:05 p.m. when a known female was reportedly threatening staff at an adult daycare facility.

Sleeper: Police were called to the 900 block of Main St. at 1:46 p.m. to check on a 35-year-old man who fell asleep in his truck.

Rockin’ out: Police responded to the 300 block of Michigan Ave. at 3:24 p.m. when a neighbor complained a 27-year-old man was playing loud bass music and smoking marijuana. The man was advised to keep the noise down and not smoke pot.

Trashed: Police arrested a 68-year-old woman on charges of criminal damage to property, disorderly conduct, domestic abuse, and resisting an officer when she “destroyed the house” following a domestic disturbance on the 500 block of Third St. at 7:26 p.m.

Theft: A 20-year-old man called police to the 2000 block of Texas Ave. at 10:05 p.m. to report an unknown person entered his apartment and stole $8.

OWI: A 54-year-old man was arrested for his third OWI offense and deviating from his lane near Hwy. 66 and Airport Rd. at 11 p.m.

Jan. 7

Crash: Police cited a 26-year-old man for operating while revoked, failure to notify police of an accident, failure to keep his vehicle under control, license restriction violation, and operating without insurance, following a two-vehicle crash in a parking lot of the 2200 block of Monroe St. at 2:23 a.m. One vehicle was towed by Johnson’s.

Property crime: A 22-year-old woman called police to the 300 block of Division St. at 9:34 a.m. to report someone smashed the glass to her front door.

Creepy: A 23-year-old woman called police to Sixth Ave. and Frederick St. at 10:41 a.m. to report a navy blue panel van was following her as she was walking through her neighborhood. The woman was unable to get a license plate number or additional description. No further details were released.
