Non-emergency travel discouraged, sheriff’s office says

Metro Wire Staff

Travel in Portage County is not recommended for April 15.

According to a news release from the Portage Co. Sheriff’s Office, main and secondary roads throughout the county are impassable due to the drifting and blowing snow.

“Highway crews are working to clear the roadways but are unable to keep up with changing conditions,” the release reads in part. “Non-emergent travel is highly discouraged.”

The release said conditions are not expected to improve over the next 12 to 16 hours, and will affect response times if someone needs help.
