No one was injured in an early morning single-vehicle rollover on I-39 on Thursday.

Rescue crews and other emergency workers were called to I-39 southbound near mil market 165 at 6:26 a.m. on Jan. 5 when a caller reported a single-vehicle rollover.

The male motorist was able to get out of the vehicle and began to flag down traffic, which was reported to the Portage Co. Communications Center.

Chief Brian Lepper from the Dewey Fire Department said the motorist reported having lost control of his vehicle while he was changing lanes. The vehicle rolled and landed on its side in a ditch.

Lepper also requested a county road crew to respond and spread additional sand on the roadway, which he said was “pretty slick” on Thursday morning.

The Dewey Fire Department provided traffic control in cooperation with the Portage Co. Sheriff’s Office. The Stevens Point Fire Department also responded.
