STEVENS POINT — Mid-State Technical College celebrated the opening of its new LEAD Center with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on April 1.

The center, which stands for Lead, Engage, Aspire, Develop, serves as a hub for business management leadership, offering opportunities for leadership and management growth, workforce training, and academic programs.

The decision to locate the LEAD Center in Stevens Point reflects Mid-State’s commitment to supporting leadership growth and opportunities for students and the community.

According to Ben Nusz, the dean of the Stevens Point Campus and School of Business & IT, the campus is home to many of Mid-State’s business and leadership academic programs, making it an ideal location surrounded by a high density of business professionals.

Occupying a 3,000 square-foot space on the Stevens Point Campus, the LEAD Center is a redesign of the campus’ Academic Learning Center, relocated to better serve students. The center has already hosted several events since its completion in January, including the DEI Applied Conference, The First Pitch idea contest, the Nonprofit Leadership Institute, and discovery days for local middle schoolers.

Dr. Shelly Mondeik, Mid-State’s president, emphasized the college’s mission of transforming lives through teaching and learning, stating that the LEAD Center is another way to achieve this goal. The center offers opportunities for the community, high school students, the workforce, and Mid-State students alike.
