Margaret (Peg) Dieterich, 67

Margaret (Peg) Dieterich, born on November 25, 1956, in the Chicago area, died of complications from diabetes on February 17, 2024, at the age of 67.

She received her nursing degree at Kishwaukee Community College in DeKalb County, Ill., and worked as a licensed RN at St. Joseph’s Hospital from 1980 to 2008. She cared deeply about the welfare of her patients, especially those suffering from HIV/AIDS early in that epidemic.

After retiring from nursing, she devoted herself to her family and friends. She took especially good care of her aging parents when they needed her most. She was an excellent quilter and seamstress, getting great pleasure from sewing beautiful Christmas and birthday gifts, as well as baking for family gatherings. She also doted on her cat, Frankie.

She’s survived by her brother Daniel J. (Dan), sister-in-law Diane, great-nephew Daniel S. Dieterich (Stevens Point); nephew John Dieterich and wife Keiko Beers (Minneapolis); sister-in-law Mary Dieterich (Louisburg, KS); nephews Drew Dieterich and Dale Dieterich (Kansas City), and David Dieterich (Phoenix); sister Mary, nephew Christopher, and niece Katie Lark (Boston); as well as Amanda, Amanda’s husband Larry, and great-niece Zoey Lockwood (Boston).

She is preceded in death by her parents Mary Ellen and Daniel L., her brothers Paul and Drew, and her nephew Daniel T. Dieterich.

A private memorial service will be held later.
