Workshop on zoning, land use, scheduled for local municipal officials
By Patrick Lynn
Stevens Point — A workshop geared towards local government officials on the fundamentals of zoning and land use decision-making will be held on June 12.
The session will introduce participants to three primary tools for land use decision making: the comprehensive plan, zoning ordinance, and subdivision ordinance. Organizers will provide a closer look at zoning decisions and review rules that apply when a plan commission and elected officials adopt and apply the ordinance.
The workshop will also cover permitted and conditional uses, rezones, and standards for decision-making.
Local government officials such as plan commissioners, elected officials, planning and zoning staff, clerks and administrators from towns, cities, villages, and counties are encouraged to attend.
Registration closes on Monday, June 10 at midnight and is available here. For inquiries, email [email protected] or call 715-346-3783.
The workshop is organized by the Center for Land Use Education and the University of Wisconsin-Extension, College of Natural Resources at the UW-Madison and the UW-Stevens Point. A light meal will be served during the session. The cost of attendance is $30.
The workshop will be held from 4:30-7 p.m. at the Portage County Annex, Conference Rooms 1 & 2 located at 1462 Strongs Ave., Stevens Point.
