Linwood man injured after being hit by car

A town of Linwood man has been sent to a trauma center after being struck by a vehicle Friday morning.

The Portage Co. Sheriff’s Office reports the man was struck at 5:42 a.m.

The vehicle, driven by a 59-year-old woman, also from Linwood, struck the man as he walked into the eastbound lane of traffic on County Hwy. PP.

Sheriff Mike Lukas said the man was traveling westbound on Hwy. PP when he stopped and exited his vehicle for reasons not immediately known. The man walked into the eastbound lane of traffic, wearing dark clothing.

He was not visible to the female driver, Lukas said.

The man was taken by ambulance to a trauma center in Marshfield. His condition was not immediately known.

Paramedics from the Stevens Point Fire Department and Rudolph First Responders were also on the scene.
