Knights dig deep for Operation Bootstrap

Metro Wire Staff

The Stevens Point Knights of Columbus has donated a batch of winter coats to Operation Bootstrap.

The Coats for Kids drive is one of the Knights’ “Faith in Action” community programs, something for which the organization raises funds throughout the year.

Knights from Council 1170 delivered 179 new coats to an Operation Bootstrap collection event in late September, according to Knight John Schlice.

The goal of the Coats for Kids program is to ensure that no child in North America goes without a coat during the winter season. The Stevens Point Fire Department is also active in the program, donating new winter coats for kids in local schools each year.

The Knights of Columbus is a fraternal organization comprised of Catholic members who provide assistance and charity to needy community members.

Council 1170 is located at 401 West Clark St. in Stevens Point.
