Food + Farm Exploration Center offering half-price tickets on Leap Day

By Brandi Makuski

Plover’s Food + Farm Exploration Center is offering a special half-price admission on Thursday afternoon.

To celebrate Leap Day, the village’s newest attraction is encouraging visitors to use the extra day on Feb. 29 to explore the new facility at a reduced rate from 3-7 p.m.

The exploration center includes over 60 immersive, interactive exhibits, as well as meeting and event space, a cafe, and four acres of demonstration fields.

But during Thursday’s special event, the facility will offer extra activities, including a drone simulator from Mid-State Technical College and a special class in the kitchen lab. To guarantee admission, visitors are encouraged to pre-purchase tickets at https://explorefoodandfarm.org/tickets

After a $41 million fundraising campaign and state-of-the-art facility and exhibit design, the exploration center opened last December. The 50,000-square-foot center is situated on 24 acres in Plover, just south of Lake Pacawa Park.

The center has classroom space where visitors of all ages can be taught about food preparation and preservation, an interactive display of the county’s water table, an interactive grocery store for youngsters, and more. It’s also home to an accessible tractor simulator and the world’s largest potato masher, designed to be a “selfie spot” for all generations.

The Food + Farm Exploration Center is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursdays, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Fridays, and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. The center is closed on Mondays.

The center is located at 3400 Innovation Dr. in Plover, south of Lake Pacawa Park off of Hoover Ave. South.
