Metro Fire called for Hi-Rise fire

Metro Fire crews were called to the Stevens Point Hi-Rise, 1300 Briggs Ct., after a caller reported smoke in the building.

The call came in shortly before 7 p.m. on April 12.

After arriving on the scene, Stevens Point firefighters reported it was a cooking fire in one of the apartments that caused the alarm to activate.

The fire was quickly extinguished and Metro units were canceled a short time later.

No injuries were immediately reported.
