Fire reported at Scaffidi Tuesday night

Metro Fire crews were called to the Scaffidi Truck Center on Tuesday night after a 911 caller reported a fire.

The caller reported seeing flames and smoke coming from new construction on the property at 3733 Stanley St., according to radio traffic. Those conditions automatically trigger a response from Metro Fire, comprised of crews from departments in Stevens Point, Plover, and Hull.

But after SPFD arrived on the scene at 7:42 p.m. on Jan. 28, the Metro Fire response was quickly canceled, as crews determined the fire was located outside the building and had been extinguished.

Crews were on the scene for less than an hour.
