Evers announces vaccine clinic to open in Marathon Co.

Metro Wire Staff

Gov. Tony Evers announced on Feb. 23 that four public COVID-19 vaccination clinics will open soon.

A local clinic will be located somewhere in Marathon Co., according to a Tuesday news release from the Department of Health Services. It is expected to open within the next two months but no specific location was immediately announced.

Other clinics will open in La Crosse and Racine counties, with a fourth clinic split between Douglas and Barron counties, the release said.

The counties were selected to address gaps in vaccine access, the DHS said. Factors considered include population demographics, local health capacity, operations, and concentration of other vaccine providers.

Anyone who is currently eligible for a vaccine will be able to schedule an appointment at the Marathon Co. clinic, regardless of where they live.
