Delia M. Pleet, 99

Delia M. Pleet, of Stevens Point, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loved ones, on March 8, 2024, at the age of 99.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 14, 2024, at Holy Spirit Parish, 2151 Stanley St., Stevens Point. Rev. Steve Brice will officiate.

Friends and family are invited to gather and share memories at the church on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will follow at Guardian Angel Cemetery.

Delia was born May 28, 1924 in Rosholt, Wis., the daughter of the late Reuben and Grace (née Bricko) Simonis. She grew up in the area and attended local schools, including the Rosholt School House.

On May 11, 1946, Delia was united in marriage to Harold Pleet in Rosholt. The two shared 66 years of love and memories until his passing on August 14, 2012.

Delia spent time working for Marathon Bait and Tackle and Weber Bait and Tackle as well as being a nanny for area families and cleaning buildings at the UWSP. However, for most of her adult life, she proudly became a homemaker, dedicating her time and attention to her family and homestead.

Delia, selfless in countless ways, had one of the biggest hearts around, often known as “Nana” to everyone. While her favorite pastime always included anything in which she could spend special time with her loved ones, she also enjoyed gardening, canning, and crocheting.

Being faithful to God was equally as important to Delia. She spent much time following her faith through prayer. She was sure to say the Rosary every day and was a proud member of the Rosary Society.

Delia is survived by her children, Joan (Thomas) Johnson and Leroy (Vickie) Pleet; six grandchildren, Trina (Jason) Dorn, Jason (Sarah) Pleet, and Daniel (Kristy) Pleet; seven great-grandchildren; Alyssa (Nate) Borton, Allan Higgins, Abby Higgins (Charlie), Isaac Pleet, Jonathan Pleet, Amelia Pleet, and Cassandra Pleet; and two great-great-grandchildren; Oakley Kraklow and Delia Borton.

Delia was preceded in death by her parents, Reuben and Grace; her beloved husband, Harold; two angel babies, one named Allan; her brothers, Gabriel, Archard, and Ralph Simonis; and her best friend and cousin, Charlotte M. Petcoff.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Interim Hospice team who cared for Nana in her final month, and all the friends who stopped in to bring communion or spent special time with her, especially Delores Janick and Cindy Rivay.
