David Enerson, 80

David Enerson, of Stevens Point, passed away peacefully in his sleep on January 11, 2024 in Glendale, Wis.

David was born on June 20, 1943 in Ladysmith, Wis., son of (late) Earl and Norma Enerson. David graduated from the University of Wisconsin and subsequently from the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine. While in college, David met Pamela, the love of his life and his wife for 57 years.

Following medical school, David completed an internship at the Presbyterian Medical Center in Denver, Colorado followed by a residency in radiology in Madison. He went on to serve in the Public Health Service in Juneau, Alaska from 1969-1971 as an Assistant General Surgeon, frequently providing medical care to small villages within the region.

David began his career as a radiologist at St. Michael’s Hospital in Stevens Point from 1976 until his retirement in 2006. During his tenure at St. Michael’s Hospital, David served terms as President of St. Michael’s Medical Staff and as President of the Wisconsin Radiological Society. In 1987, David was honored with the prestigious designation as Fellow of the American College of Radiology.

David was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in (Stevens Point, where he served on various church committees and was a proud member of the church choir for many years. He was also a past President of the Stevens Point Country Club and volunteered his time with many other community organizations.

David was an avid outdoorsman. He had many interests including, traveling, hunting, fishing, golfing, and racing vintage cars. Perhaps his greatest joy was his hobby farm, proudly named “Westfork” (a twist on his favorite television show “Dallas” and the Ewing family homestead “Southfork”). David loved to spend time there gardening, splitting wood, and riding his beloved John Deere tractor. He also looked forward to gathering with friends and family at Westfork every year during hunting season.

David had a zest for life and was always willing to lend a helping hand or to offer up a joke or pun, particularly those involving his Norwegian heritage.

David is survived by his wife, Pamela Enerson, his sons and daughters-in-law, Bradley (Jill) Enerson, Gregory Enerson, Benjamin (Nicole) Enerson, his mother, Norma Enerson, and sisters, Susan (Kenneth) Quintenz, Carol (William) Mestelle, Elaine Enerson, along with grandchildren, Nataly Enerson, David Enerson, Gabriel Enerson, Vivian Enerson & Henry Enerson.
