County launches public opinion survey

By Brandi Makuski

Portage Co. government has begun the decennial update of its comprehensive plan, and county leaders need help from the public.

The massive document, which can be found here in its current iteration, is updated every 10 years to act as a guide for decisions that impact the county’s physical, social, and economic development.

As part of the plan update process, the county’s planning and zoning department has launched an online survey for county residents and property owners to provide input on land development, services, and environmental protections.

The survey is open through Sept. 15 at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/HBYNGQQ.

Public input is also welcome in person at Comprehensive Plan Steering Committee meetings; by email to [email protected]; or by mail to Portage County Planning & Zoning Department, 1462 Strongs Ave., Stevens Point, Wis., 54481.

For more information about the Portage County Comprehensive Plan Update, or if unable to take the survey online contact Portage Co. Planner, Kristen Johnson, by phone at (715)346-1334 or by email at [email protected].
