Community-wide Bingo launches, prize drawing in July
The Metro Wire is teaming up with River’s Edge Campground to offer one lucky winner and three of their friends or family members a fantastic weekend vacation away from it all—while staying inside Portage County.
Following COVID-related closures that were troublesome, or downright devastating, for many small business owners in Portage Co., the Metro Wire is encouraging residents to get out into the community, as they’re comfortable, and support locally-owned businesses.
Community-wide Bingo, a fun twist on an old game, kicks off on June 2.
Instead of sitting in one spot and waiting for an emcee to call out numbers, Community-wide Bingo is played by partaking in a series of specials at participating businesses, visiting a local group to donate to a fundraiser, or participating in a free activity.
Each box on the bingo card contains an affordable, or free, meal, drink, sale, or activity, so there’s something that appeals to just about everyone. They contain a diverse mix of family-friendly and adult-only sales and activities inside Portage Co. You might even discover something new to love in our community.
The rules are simple: pick up a copy of the Metro Wire at any local newsstand throughout the month of June to find a bingo card. Bingo boxes are marked by an owner or employee at each of the locations, and once you get “bingo,” send us your card, and you’ll be entered into our special prize drawing held on Facebook Live on Wednesday, July 6.
Staff at each location will mark the appropriate box with a special code unique to that location. Bingo cards not properly marked will not be accepted.
Prizes include gift cards to local businesses, gas cards, and a brand new air fryer.
The grand prize winner walks away with a special weekend for four at Rivers Edge Campground, located about eight miles north of SPASH in the Town of Dewey. The weekend includes a campsite for four, passes to the onsite Aqua Park, a gift card for food at Bullhead’s, and the use of a golf cart for the weekend.
Rivers Edge has many other amenities including bicycle rental, a laser tag arena, ax-throwing, a “giant jumping pillow,” volleyball, a GAGA Ball pit, a heated pool, a general store, and more.
We are limiting submissions to one bingo card per player, per week, between June 2 and June 30. Bingo cards must be postmarked by Friday, July 1. Watch for more details in our print editions throughout June.
