Amherst man arrested for fatally striking father, 76, with vehicle

One man is dead following an incident of domestic violence in Amherst on Monday.
Portage Co. deputies were called to a disturbance at 9143 Fountain Grove Rd. in the town of Amherst at 11:43 a.m. on Oct. 26. The caller reported a man had been struck by a vehicle and was injured.
Upon arrival, deputies found Daniel Sullivan, 76, pinned between a vehicle and a garage. Deputies determined that Sullivan had been struck by a vehicle driven by his son, 44-year-old Daniel Sullivan, Jr. The strike was intentional and fatal, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office.
Daniel Sullivan, Jr., was arrested on an initial charge of first-degree intentional homicide. He is currently behind bars at the Portage Co. Jail.
Sheriff Mike Lukas said Daniel Sullivan, Jr., will make his bond appearance in Portage Co. Circuit Count on Oct. 28.
The Portage Co. Ambulance, Amherst Fire & Rescue, Emergency Medical Responders, the Wisconsin State Patrol, and the Portage County Medical Examine, all responded to the scene.
